No Primitive Graphics

Although this game feels like it is set in an ancient fantasy realm, the graphics were definitely designed in modern times. The symbols in this game are absolutely gorgeous. They skip the boring playing card symbols, instead opting for elixirs of differing colors and shapes to represent the low-scoring symbols. Other standard symbols include a treasure chest, mythical beasts, and a hunter. Each symbol has gorgeous, detailed artwork, each with its own color scheme. This game is worth it just to appreciate the artistic style, but it offers so much more than that.

The audio side of things is pretty standard. The theme music is an epic fantasy theme with ascending horns and crashing cymbals. The spinning sound effect is softer and subdued - it sounds more like someone rolling a heavy bolder than it does spinning a wheel. The music does briefly change in speed and rhythm when you hit a winning line, but it is still the same music and quickly returns after the winnings are collected.

Unbelievable Gameplay

Before we even get to the special features of this game, it is imperative to cover the most interesting and exciting part. The game starts on a standard three-by-five board but can expand indefinitely under the right circumstances. When you hit a winning line another reel automatically appears on the board, for each winning line that is produced this way a new reel appears which means that you can have an indefinite number of reels leading to big wins. Once the round is over, the board returns to its starting form. This can happen during every spin.

Age of Beasts also has traditional bonus features, starting with the old reliable Wild symbol. In this case, it is represented with the word wild in a “wild” font with embers floating off of it. The wild will replace every symbol on the board except for the treasure chest, which doubles as the scatter symbol.

The scatter, also known as the “wheel feature” in this game, is a bit of a catch-all bonus feature. Whenever the chest is part of a winning line, it automatically unlocks the wheel feature. You automatically get eight free spins, and five wheels with progressively larger prizes appear.
